This sword pattern was laid down in 1854, when all the foot guards regiments were permitted to carry their own cypher on the sword guard.
The miniature replicas include all of the pattern of the Foot Guards regiments: Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards, Scots Guards, Irish Guards and Welsh Guards.
Rifle Regiments have carried this sword since 1827.
