Known as the Royal Company of Archers, Officers of the Monarch's body guard for Scotland carry a gilt ornamental cross hilted sword fitted with a military 'Claymore' blade.
The hilt is in a Romanesque design with a gilt grip, gothic style pommel and thistle shaped top nut.
The sword is carried in a gilt mounted black leather scabbard.
This style is referred to as the 'Field' sword, to differentiate it from the court sword style carried by officers at the court of the Monarch.
