Bring Furrit The Tartan

‘Bring Furrit The Tartan’ is a comprehensive history of Scottish military units raised outside Scotland, in England and abroad.

Military and clan historian Alastair Campbell of Airds has illustrated his vivid account with over 200 meticulously researched paintings of uniforms, and the book also illustrates cap badges and the regimental tartans which meant so much to their wearers.

The title of the book echoes the celebrated order by Sir Colin Campbell at the siege of Lucknow summoning the Highland troops. Scottish regiments in the Dominions and elsewhere have made vital contributions to the British war effort, especially in the two World Wars, often with heavy sacrifice. Their role has been a very proud one, deserving of celebration and grateful remembrance.
