Wilkinson Sword

The origin of Wilkinson Sword dates back to 1772. Henry Nock established a gun smiths, his adopted daughter went on to married Henry Wilkinson and he, in 1824, established the famous Wilkinson Sword business.

Since acquiring Wilkinson Sword's archives in 2005, Pooley Sword has been dedicated to preserving and managing these historical records. We have taken on the responsibility of maintaining and sharing the rich history of Wilkinson Sword with both the military and sword enthusiasts. Our museum at Shoreham Airport showcases various aspects of Wilkinson Sword's storied past, and our archive houses numerous books related to the company's history, many of which we have published.

We have been responsible to all interested parties in acknowledging any history, relating to Wilkinson Sword, for many years. We have also been responsible for refurbishing Wilkinson Swords, that date back to the early 1800’s, keeping reference of all the sword numbers relating to the individual swords. Pooley Sword are considered second to none in our field with our workmanship and care, both for individuals and museums, being of exceptionally high standard.

Pooley Sword – Continuing the Wilkinson Sword Legacy

Pooley Sword proudly carries forward the distinguished tradition of Wilkinson Sword, a name synonymous with excellence in sword making for over two centuries. When Wilkinson Sword ceased sword production in 2005, Pooley Sword took on the responsibility of ensuring this remarkable heritage would not be lost.

As the recognised successor to Wilkinson Sword’s military sword-making, Pooley Sword continues to produce swords to the same exacting standards, using many of the original patterns, techniques, and traditions that made Wilkinson renowned worldwide. Several of our craftsmen trained at Wilkinson Sword, bringing with them unmatched expertise and preserving the authenticity of the brand’s legacy.

Today, every sword we create reflects both the prestige of Wilkinson Sword and the dedication of Pooley Sword to uphold and build upon that heritage. We remain deeply affiliated with the Wilkinson Sword name and history, safeguarding the reputation of British sword-making for generations to come.
