Pooley Sword’s refurbishment service is lead by Head Culter, Peter Harmsworth, who has over 25 years’ experience. Peter previously worked with the restorations at Wilkinson Sword.
We have had some extraordinary examples of military swords over the years, some dating back as early as the 14th Century. Swords are carefully stripped back and meticulously cleaned and reassembled using traditional methods and materials, to museum standard.
Many swords have been refurbished from the 19th Century, which are still carried today on parade and at other ceremonial duties. These swords are family heirlooms and have been passed down through the generations. They are all carried with great pride, as they reflect the family’s military heritage.
At Pooleys we appreciate that every sword is unique and it will be individually assessed by our expert team. Consultation is made before the commencement of any work and costs are approved in advance.
Pooley Sword is proud of our commitment to Wilkinson Sword in the care and refurbishment of their historical swords. The association with Wilkinson Sword goes back to 1962 when our first sword was purchased from them for presenting into the aviation world, particularly The United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
