Clandestine Knives of World War II

This book provides a comprehensive, full-color, depiction of the many styles of Clandestine knives and non-traditional weapons carried by members of the S.O.E., S.A.S., O.S.S. and Commando units. Illustrated are ¾ size Agent’s daggers, thumb daggers, “Hatpins”, “Dip Sticks”, and more. These miniaturised weapons were primarily used by those serving behind enemy lines. They were the creations of men in the cutlery industry working in concert with men in the Intelligence and Commando forces and were produced in the United Kingdom, the United States and underground in many occupied countries. Each particular weapon has its own forte’. The people operating behind enemy lines were highly trained in each specific weapons’ applications for maximum effect. But, tiny as these weapons are, the success of many military operations depended on the advance work performed by the valiant shadow operators who carried them. The items illustrated herein are extremely rare and seldom found on the open market. This book will help you instantly recognise these weapons should you encounter them at Arms Fairs, car boot sales or in Antique Shops.
