White Leather Knot
Like the officer’s version, the 1892 Trooper’s Sword features a heavy single-edged blade. The bowl, chased and pierced, with initials HC interwined also carries the sovereign’s crown. The grip is of wood covered with fish-skin and bound with silver-plated copper wire.
The scabbard is made of high-quality nickel-plated steel.
The evolution of Household Cavalry swords was punctuated by a seemingly endless succession of committees, specifications, prototypes, trials and revisions. An a fundamental conflict of official opinion over the priority of cutting versus thrusting was never fully resolved.
Nonetheless, the 1892 pattern crowned these painstaking efforts and saw successful active service.
